Week 10 Post 1: Email Marketing

Email newsletters are an effective tool to share business news with your clients. I believe newsletters should be sent out at least once a month, although I fear that may not be enough. Once I start to fully understand what my community wants to see, I might increase my email activity to twice a month (depending on the amount of news needed to be shared). I've seen businesses send constant emails about their business and if it does not appeal to me, I typically delete them. If it gets to be too much, I would unsubscribe from their mailing list. I am hoping that my emails will not cause my viewers to unsubscribe from my newsletter.     For the type of emails that will be sent out, I would love to include stream news (what game I am currently playing, planned events, etc). I want to start doing charity streams each month. These email newsletters would be a great way to announce what charity we (as a community) have selected to donate to for the month. Further down the line, I w

Week 9 Post 2: Categories

Image
I found myself having a really difficult time trying to come up with content that would make my viewers interested. I could be in an analysis paralysis frame of mind, but I managed to push through and put some content out there. One of the struggles I faced was linking my Instagram with my Facebook business page. I ended up posting the content first on Instagram and took that link and posted it onto my Facebook page. There has to be an easier way to do it than this, but I'm happy that it was posted. I was also surprised to see the amount of likes each post has received in the last few hours! The categories I would use in my blog feel somewhat limited, but perhaps I may be overthinking it. With Twitch being a HUGE entertainment platform, I worry that my business's content may not stand out as much as a popular streamer's would. For my blog I plan to include: mental health, self care, video games, entertainment, video game review, and video game analysis. These would help

Week 9 Post 1: Blogging for Business

Humans want to feel a connection and to feel understood. Adding a personal touch helps your business because it shows people that you are just as human as they are. Your audience will be able to tell if a human with real emotions is writing this post, as opposed to straight forward information about your product. You want your content to have emotion because you want to attract new customers. The best way to do that is by being your best, organic self. Adding emotions to your content adds personality to your brand. People search for a variety of things on the Internet (typically with the trusty Google). People search online for things that they are interested in. These things include: learning something new, wanting to purchase a product, or to research just about anything. When there is a personal touch to a post, people are more inclined to purchase a product because they have a human response to the post. Adding a personal touch to your social media content is an excellent way

Week 8 Part 2: Discoveries Using Instagram

This week we explored using Instagram with hashtags. I posted 3 times this week: one on Friday, another on Saturday and one earlier today. For these posts, I used videos from my streams and an image of myself. I find myself still trying to figure out which types of posts are most effective for my followers.     Most of my hashtags are specific to my business. For my video posts, I included a hashtag that included the title of the video game I was playing. I figured that hashtag may help with potential reach to users. The hashtags I used were: #gamegirl, #selfcare, #findingmyconfidence, #twitchstreamer, #femalestreamer, #twitch, #womeningaming, #darq, #twitch, #spooktober, and #psychologicalhorror. I found the hashtags I used by looking at other streamers' hashtags for inspiration. I also included some hashtags related to self-care and self-confidence for one of my posts. I also found it interesting that the hashtag #gamegirl seemed to help reach more users than the other hash

Week 8: Business Research

Businesses use Instagram to visually display their products/services and their personality. For this assignment, I researched four streamers that use Instagram for their business. Let's take a closer look at their Instagram accounts!  Blinkytracer     Blinkytracer is a content creator that I met through Stream Coach Academy. She is an amazing person that focuses her content on the video game, Overwatch. She makes content that provides useful information on how to play as Tracer in Overwatch and also shares helpful tips for her viewers. She also posts about being a hearing impaired gamer.       She currently has 4,131 followers and posts daily. Her hashtags include: #girlgamer, #overwatch, #tracer, #overwatchmemes, #overwatchfunny, #videogames, #pc, #xbox, #ps4, and #disabledgamer. Her last post was made earlier today. Most of her content consists of pictures and videos related to Overwatch and content creation.     It appears that her content gets a lot of comments and likes

Week 7: Using Instagram

This week we focused on Instagram. Instagram is a great platform to promote your business in a visual way. Some people would say that "a picture is worth a thousand words" and I could agree with that statement. Using an image or short video is an excellent way to attract potential customers because it shows a sample of the business's personality. Making the content visual also relieves the headache of trying to come up with a clever post. Creating an Instagram account is important because it helps you establish who you are as a company and what they stand for. Businesses use Instagram because it is a great way to reach audiences at a faster rate than their own business website. The big thing with any form of social media is staying consistent with posting content. Without content on platforms such as Instagram, the less likely businesses will attract new customers and promote their business effectively. Week 6 Part 2: Screenshot of my activity

Image
I chose to post some videos of my gameplay because this is essentially what I do on Twitch. I felt like these videos are a great way for people to get a taste of my personality and what I do live. I feel like these posts would be able to give viewers some entertainment to look at when they are scrolling through Facebook. I also included some Brene Brown posts to share because I am inspired by her words. If I could be inspired by these posts, other people would benefit from them as well. I chose to schedule these posts in the morning because people are likely to check social media first thing in the morning. By having the post up early, it leaves more time for people to see and engage with the post. Lastly, I posted a picture of myself because it is part of how I promote whenever I go live. I believe it adds a more personal touch to a "going live" message than your average text on a plain background. I also scheduled it exactly at the time I plan to go live tomorrow.

Week 6: List of Businesses Liked on Facebook

Hello lovely people! I hope you are all doing well so far. This week, I looked into businesses that I think I could make strategic connections with. Let's begin talking about them!  1. Ashnichrist     I chose to like Ashnichrist's business page because she is one of my biggest streaming mentors. I have had the opportunity to be a part of her Stream Coach Academy program and loved every moment of it. Since I already have that connection with her as her student, I believe that I could make strategic connections with her in making my business grow. I also believe that she creates valuable content that I could share with my audience/followers. 2. Bren é Brown     Bren é Brown is a research professor at University of Houston where she studies courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy. During my years as a struggling actor, I learned a lot about vulnerability and shame through Youtube videos that my professor would show me. These videos were from Bren é Brown's Ted Talks. My f
