Week 9 Post 1: Blogging for Business

Humans want to feel a connection and to feel understood. Adding a personal touch helps your business because it shows people that you are just as human as they are. Your audience will be able to tell if a human with real emotions is writing this post, as opposed to straight forward information about your product. You want your content to have emotion because you want to attract new customers. The best way to do that is by being your best, organic self. Adding emotions to your content adds personality to your brand.

People search for a variety of things on the Internet (typically with the trusty Google). People search online for things that they are interested in. These things include: learning something new, wanting to purchase a product, or to research just about anything. When there is a personal touch to a post, people are more inclined to purchase a product because they have a human response to the post. Adding a personal touch to your social media content is an excellent way for your target audience to feel connected to you (or the business). By being personable with your social media content, your audience will also feel interested in coming back and reading/watching your posts, creating a community of followers.

Another great way to add a personal touch to your blog is adding reviews and testimonials. Testimonials are excellent because it adds credibility to your brand as a whole. Most businesses will add testimonials on their business website to boost their reputation to prospective customers. Reviews are also wonderful because customers will be able to put themselves in the shoes of the reviewer. It could help them imagine how this product could benefit them.

It is not a great idea to post something that has too much emotion behind it. Some examples include a super sad post or a very angry post. Posting something with such strong and negative emotion could turn customers away from your business. People look for content that has value to them. They look for things that make them feel good. If your content does not do those things, they are not likely to purchase a product from your business or visit your site again.

Overall, adding an emotional side to your content helps your business have personality. It is also wonderful because it shows vulnerability in your brand, something I have noticed people enjoy seeing. As a result, it could attract a sense of trust with your customers/audience. Lastly, it provides a more natural and human feel to your brand instead of just some very generic business.

  3. First of all, your posts always have such a lovely personalized touch to them and to me, that truly creates that genuine connection with others. Your blogs and posts convey sincerity and a strong desire to really connect with others. I especially agree with you about how posting things that can being overly emotional, sad or angry, can have an adverse affects. Finding the right balance to share a sensitive topic with others can be tricky, but you always seem to find a way. It's a hard line to walk sometimes, especially in the kinds of times like we are in living in now. Well written! I love your stuff!
